Vikings Crowned 2024 3C2A State Champions in Historic Victory
The Vikings claimed the title in dominant fashion, defeating two-time champions Santa Barbara City College 11-6.
The Long Beach City College women's water polo team made history as the 2024 3C2A State Champions, capping off an incredible season with a first-place finish and an almost-perfect record of 39-2.
"I am so proud of our team; we worked hard all season preparing for this moment," said center Olivia Hurley. "The way we worked together was so impressive, and it's something I'll never forget."
The Vikings claimed the title in dominant fashion, defeating two-time champions Santa Barbara City College 11-6. Offensive powerhouses Lola Annear and Jennifer Connelly led the way with three goals each, while Olivia Slavens added two and Elizabeth Jung chipped in one.
"We just won the state championship! The girls played amazing and had fun doing it, just like they did all year," said Director of Aquatics Bradley Adamson. "They put in all their hard work, and it paid off. I am really happy for them."
For Head Coach Chris Oeding, the win was especially meaningful. "I couldn't ask for a better scenario with such a connected team that fought for each other all year long. Playing at home in the state championship for the first time in over 20 years made it incredibly special. I couldn't be prouder of these girls."
Congratulations to the Vikings on an unforgettable season and a historic championship!
