A1 M - Vis Nova victory in the derby thriller
Success in the derby with a thrilling finish. Rome Vis Nova wins the first of the two local derbies against Olympic Roma with a 10-9 scoreline in a match where the lions did not deliver their best performance, but it was important to secure another three points, especially against a direct competitor. Five wins out of six matches, 15 points in the bag, and still in the top positions of the standings. In short, Vis Nova keeps grinding and winning, even though this time the result could have been secured earlier. The start was as usual excellent, the team performed well both in attack and defense. They led by 9-5, which was the maximum advantage. Then something changed, the lions started making mistakes, rushing, while Olympic came back to equalize. The thrilling finish with Penava scoring the winning goal with 20 seconds left, and in the final action, Fiorillo's men failed to convert due to a standout performance by Correggia. Center forward Matteo Spione's post-match thought: "We knew that derbies come with many challenges, we did well not to give up until the end, we brought it home with great desire. There are no easy games, both teams were good. Now heads towards the Onda Forte next Saturday. We didn't expect such a start to the season, but we are deserving it due to the effort everyone puts in, from the club to the coaching staff, to us players. We are having fun and want to continue like this."
