A2 M – Anzio Waterpolis-Giorgini Ottica Muri Antichi 12-8

The upset eludes Giorgini Ottica Muri Antichi as they are defeated by Anzio in their first away game of the season. Coach Scebba's team suffered from a less than ideal start to the match, with the home team better capitalizing on their chances compared to Muri Antichi, who created many opportunities but struggled to convert them. The 3-0 lead for the home team at the end of the first quarter pretty much stayed until the end of the match (which ended with a +4 advantage for Coach Apicella's team). In the second quarter, Giorgini finally got on the board and Tkac also found his stride, scoring two beautiful goals that kept Muri Antichi in the game. Nicolosi scored at the start of the third quarter, but midway through, Tkac received a questionable expulsion which forced him to leave the pool early. Marangolo converted a penalty, but Di Rocco secured Anzio's victory with two goals, putting Anzio comfortably ahead at 10-5. Despite goals from Belfiore, Forzese, and Nicolosi in the fourth quarter, the comeback fell short as the match ended 12-8 in favor of Anzio Waterpolis.

"We started poorly," admits Coach Aurelio Scebba, "we created many chances but failed to finish, conceding goals on counterattacks that should have been prevented. We started playing in the second quarter, but every time we got close, something questionable happened, like Tkac's expulsion for what was an opponent's simulation. We were certainly aggressive, but the type of defense we adopted seemed excessive. I give credit to Anzio; we likely would have lost anyway. It's unfortunate our supporters couldn't watch the match live. Also, it seemed a bit unusual to play with only four available balls, a shame for a Serie A2 match of this level. Now, all we can do is roll up our sleeves and prepare for another exciting challenge against Canottieri Napoli."
