Long Beach State Dominates LMU Under The Lights
Freshmen combined for 12 goals with Gabi Acosta leading with four goals.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Dominating from start to finish, the Beach defeated No. 19 Loyola Marymount on the road, 18-7. Ten players scored on the match with the freshmen leading the offense scoring 12 goals.
The Beach (16-10) left the Lions (9-15) unanswered for over six minutes starting the game with a 4-0 lead. Gabi Acosta, Marc Frigola and two goals from Corbin Stanley got things started for the Beach. LMU got one on the board on an extra man goal to shorten the lead to 4-1 at the end of the first.
Frigola netted his second of the match on the opening of the second quarter to extend the Beach lead. Senior Evan Cain added a goal while Acosta scored his second one as the Beach led 7-1 with five minutes left in the half. The Lions added another goal before freshmen Artur Diaz and Kostantinos Kapragkos added one goal each to extend the lead to 9-2 at halftime.
The freshmen kept the momentum going on the start of the third with Harper Stewart getting on the board on a counter attack goal and Stanley scoring his third of the game right after. LMU added their third goal but Jason O'Donnell back-to-back goals got the Beach up by ten goals. Stewart added another goal on the buzzer as Long Beach State finished the third quarter up 14-3.
The Lions started the last quarter on a three-goal run with two of these goals coming from penalty shots. Acosta scored two quick goals to extend the lead again to ten. Junior Botond Hajdu and redshirt freshman Keegan Moore completed the score as the Beach dominated the Lions 18-7. Seniors Liam Ward and Aaron Wilson split time on the cage combining 11 saves.
The Beach is back in action tomorrow night as they face No. 8 UC Irvine on the road for a special non-conference match-up of the Black and Blue Rivalry to close the regular season. Ball drops at 7 p.m. and live stats can be followed on thefosh.net.
