A2 M - Evomet Vela Ancona to open the season at home on Saturday (behind closed doors)
Ancona - The season of Evomet Vela Ancona in the North group of the Serie A2 men's championship started on the wrong foot, with a 9-7 loss in Lavagna last Saturday. It was definitely not the team's best performance, but coach Marco Risso's team has the opportunity to bounce back immediately, as they will make their season debut at home this Saturday afternoon at the Passetto pool, facing Chiavari at 3:30 PM (behind closed doors and live streaming on the club's YouTube page). Last Saturday, Chiavari narrowly won the Ligurian derby against Bogliasco, and for Ancona, it will be crucial to take advantage of the home field, even without spectators, to start the season on the right track. "Last Saturday in Lavagna we started well, but in the crucial moments we failed in various aspects," explains coach Risso. "During the week, the team watched the video and understood. We are disappointed because it's acceptable to lose, especially in Liguria, but with Lavagna weakened in the last quarter, we had many opportunities to come back and missed them all. We are paying the price for being isolated and starting the championship without having tested the team enough in important matches." At least there are positive signs coming from the young players "that we have introduced and who will be the future of Vela." On Saturday, Chiavari: "A team coached by my best friend, Gabriele Luccianti, a squad made up mostly of A1 level players, at least the first seven, with clear objectives, but we want to make a good impression. It's a shame that the game at the Passetto will be played behind closed doors, all year round," concludes Risso. "Because last Saturday in Lavagna, the audience greatly supported our opponents, it was a packed pool, as it was in Camogli and in Chiavari."
