This Week in Pacific Athletics - University of the Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – A loaded home week features five sports hosting events on campus. It includes the No. 5 men's water polo program playing for the West Coast Conference regular season title Saturday against No. 9 Pepperdine. The Tigers will also host games in volleyball, men's & women's basketball and men's soccer.

Monday, Nov. 11 - Men's Basketball (3-0) at Hawaii (2-0), 9 p.m. (PT) - It will be the championship game of the Outrigger Rainbow Classic as both teams recorded wins over San Jose State and Life Pacific. The Tigers are looking for their first road win against Hawaii since Dec. 1, 1987 as the Rainbow Warriors have won the last four meetings at home. It will be the 11th meeting all-time between the two squads and the seventh at Hawaii.

Wednesday, Nov. 13 - Volleyball (15-10, 5-8 WCC) hosts Oregon State (8-14, 6-5 WCC), 6 p.m. - Volleyball returns to the Alex G. Spanos Center after defeating Gonzaga in four sets on Saturday. Graduate Alexa Edwards notched Pacific's first 20/20 game since at least the 2009 season after tallying 22 kills and 21 digs in the contest. The Tigers hold a 2-0 advantage when hosting the Beavers, but Wednesday's matchup will the schools' first since 2017.

Thursday, Nov. 14 - Men's Basketball (3-0) hosts Northern Arizona (2-0), 7 p.m. - After three games in Hawaii, the Tigers return home for their second game in the Alex G. Spanos Center. The first was a lopsided 80-67 victory over Jessup on Nov. 4. The Tigers are going for their first-ever win over NAU in school history as the two teams met four times previously.

Friday, Nov. 15 - Women's Basketball (1-1) hosts Long Beach State (1-0), 6 p.m. - Pacific plays host to LBSU after defeating the Beach on the road in last year's matchup. Senior Anaya James is off to a fast start on the defensive end, averaging 5.5 steals per game and 4.0 rebounds per game while being the catalyst on offense with a 6.5 assist per game average. 

Saturday, Nov. 16 - No. 5 Men's Water Polo (17-1, 5-0 WCC) hosts No. 9 Pepperdine (20-6, 5-0 WCC), 1 p.m. - The West Coast Conference regular season championship and the No. 1 seed for the WCC Tournament is at stake. Pacific is playing for its first WCC Championship as an athletics department for any sport since rejoining the league in 2013-14. 

Saturday, Nov. 16 - Volleyball (15-10, 5-8 WCC) at Saint Mary's (8-14, 4-9 WCC) 1 p.m. - In the final road contest of the season, Pacific gets its only look at the Gaels this season. Pacific dropped its first season series to Saint Mary's last season since 2018. Senior Jenna Heller was particularly effective in the previous meeting, tallying a double-double (24 assists-10 digs) with three aces.

Saturday, Nov. 16 - Men's Soccer (3-8-4, 1-5-1 WCC) at Saint Mary's (2-8-6, 1-3-3 WCC), 7 p.m. - The Tigers host Senior Night against Saint Mary's at Knoles Field. Pacific is coming off a 2-0 victory at Gonzaga in the road finale.

Sunday, Nov. 17 - Women's Basketball (1-1) hosts Northern Arizona (1-1), 2 p.m. - Pacific plays host to NAU for the first time since 2004, which is also the Tigers' last win in the series. Graduate Liz Smith, and seniors Anaya James and Elizabeth Elliott all scored in double figures last season against the Lumberjacks. James flirted with her third career triple-double by adding eight assists and eight rebounds. She also tied her career high three blocks in that contest.
