A2 M - Splendid debut of Acquachiara: the white and blue team come out on top against CN Latina with a 14-11 victory
The journey of Acquachiara in the 2024-25 Serie A2 championship starts in the best way possible. In the first round of the South group, the home team defeats Centro Nuoto Latina with full merit, with a resounding 14-11 victory thanks to a powerful late surge that allows them to make the decisive breakthrough and take home the full points. While a good start is half the battle, it is equally imperative to maintain concentration and dive back into the pool from Monday onwards, working diligently and intensively to continue improving. The home team starts well, quickly responding to an early 0-1 lead by Serta with a 3-0 lead scored by a brace from De Gregorio and a lightning-fast counterattack by Pratali. However, the opponents fight back, matching blow for blow and managing to take the lead towards the end of the second quarter with back-to-back goals from Capezzone-Caponero duo, both scoring four goals, for an 8-7 lead heading into halftime.
Deciding the outcome of a closely contested match for the majority of its duration was a decisive 4-0 surge by the home team, supported by excellent physical condition, between the last two quarters. Pasquale Porzio, scoring two goals, completes the comeback with a delightful lob that finds the corner of the net for the 10-10 equalizer. Another goal from Paolo Nazzaro, during a numerical advantage, secures the definitive lead, while the captain's and De Florio's strikes dig the gap that the opponents couldn't close, especially with Davide Chianese sealing the goal and systematically repelling the threats. Tonight, legitimate joy can be taken in a fine performance from a team that, despite having the youngest average age in the league, managed the difficult moments with great maturity, displayed beautiful water polo, and boasts significant room for growth. At the end of the match, Davide Cielo commented on Acquachiara's debut in the tournament.
Davide Cielo
We put in a good performance today against an experienced team. We led the game all the way except for a moment where things got a bit tough, but we quickly got back on track. Now we are already thinking about Monday because next Saturday we have another tough match that we absolutely must not underestimate.
