Convincing Victories in Round 2
On the second day of the Split qualification tournament of the Croatian Cup, two rounds were scheduled. Matches of the 2nd round were played in the morning and early afternoon.
First Victory for Rijeka
Primorje EB achieved their first victory by convincingly defeating POŠK 1937 from Split. With the Rijeka team leading 7-2 already after the first quarter, the question of the winner was quickly resolved.
Maroje Gluhaić stood out for the defeated team with 5 goals, but equally impressive was the performance of Primorje's captain, Tin Brubnjak, who also scored 5 goals. Rijeka had a much wider range of scorers, with a total of 10 players finding the net.
Solaris Triumphs Against Neighbors
A similar story to the first match of round 2 can be told for the second match. Solaris led significantly against their opponents from the neighboring city, Zadar 1952, already after the first eight minutes. The score was 6-1 in favor of Seferović's team.
Although the Zadar team managed to reduce the gap significantly until just before the end of the second quarter, bringing the score to 6-4, Solaris regained a 5-goal lead by midway through the third quarter (9-4). Domagoj Butić scored the most goals for Zadar with 4, while the most efficient players for the winners were another Domagoj, specifically Domagoj Bulat, and Roko Pelicarić, each scoring 3 goals.
Jadran Defeats the Second Team
Jadran easily defeated their city rivals from OVK Split, as expected. The lead at the end of the match was a staggering 17 goals. Coach Jure Marelja's players succeeded in another mission. All players, except for two goalkeepers, scored at least one goal. It is worth noting that the best Jadran players did not participate in the match but watched from the stands – Marko Bijač, captain Jerko Marinić Kragić, Loren Fatović, Zvonimir Butić, Marino Čagalj, Ivan Domagoj Zović, Antonio Dužević.
