A2 M - Check-up Rari Nantes Nuoto Salerno presents the 2024/25 sports season: a year of new challenges
Yesterday, Thursday, November 7, 2024, the press conference for the presentation of the 2024/2025 sports season of Check-Up Rari Nantes Nuoto Salerno took place in the charming setting of the Salerno Maritime Station. The event marked a moment of renewed enthusiasm for the team, which is preparing to experience "The Year of Firsts," as defined by President Enrico Gallozzi in his speech.
The President inaugurated the conference by recalling the central theme of this season: "The Year of Firsts: the courage to start over," stating:
"This is a season of new challenges and first times for our Rari Nantes. It is the first time without my partner and co-founder of over 20 years, who will always accompany us in memory and through our support to the Maria Piscopo Gallozzi ETS Foundation. We start again from Serie A2 after five seasons in the top-flight, aware of our abilities and with the determination to aim for the playoffs. Sports teach us the courage to rise up, to face new challenges. With our new motto, ULTREIA, I wish all of us to move forward, one step at a time, towards new goals."
The President emphasized how this challenge is an opportunity for the players and the staff to demonstrate the strength of the team and the importance of resilience, central values for the club.
Among the novelties is the launch of the "Pallanuoto Academy" project, an initiative dedicated to young talents who will wear the yellow and red colors in youth championships this year and will have the opportunity to compete alongside the first team players in the A2 league. This project represents a significant investment in the growth of new talents and confirms Rari Nantes' commitment to the training of future champions.
Statement from Sports Director Mariano Rampolla:
"This year, we face the season with the declared objective of competing for top positions and reaching the playoffs in a position that allows us to be protagonists. We have chosen to rejuvenate and lower the average age of the team compared to last year, integrating promising young players with experienced and quality players.
We have indeed included in the roster athletes like Privitera and De Freitas, two well-known names with proven experience in this category. De Freitas, for example, has competed in European competitions with Bologna, while Privitera is a valuable player who was in high demand even in Serie A. Their experience will be crucial for the team's growth.
Regarding the young players, I can say that we have a roster of great potential: De Simone and Sifanno, both nationally sought-after profiles, are already part of the National Youth team and have integrated very well into the group. In addition, we have added young talents to the first team like Chianese, Borsellino, and Andrea Tortorella, who will be part of a group that we greatly believe in and that represents the future of our Under 16."
"We are ready to give our best this season, and I am convinced that the mix of experience and youth will give us that extra push to achieve our goals."
Statements from Coach Christian Presciutti:
"After almost two months of intense preparation, we are finally ready for the start of the championship. Compared to last season, we have profoundly renewed the team, introducing many young players, including those from the youth academy, who are working hard, as the whole group has done during this long period. The team's amalgamation process is ongoing, and I am starting to see the emergence of that style of play that I want to express during the season. We face a challenging championship, very balanced and full of uncertainties.
Our goal is clear: we want to fight to return to the top-flight. We know it won't be easy, as there are well-equipped teams in both the South and North groups ready to compete for the same goal. But we are also prepared and determined. We will have to give our all in every match, starting from Saturday, with an upcoming tough away game. We are ready to start and to grow, game after game."
The 2024/2025 first team roster will include new additions: Roberto Agulha De Freitas (1997), Antonio Francesco De Simone (2006), Antonio Chianese (2009), Andrea Tortorella (2009), Francesco Maiorano (2005), Alessio Privitera (1993), Francesco Sifanno (2006), Paolo Borsellino (2009), Marco De Feo (2009) who have joined the historic group of Salerno players: Andrea Domenico Fortunato (2001), Daniel Afonso Gallozzi (1994), Michele Luongo (1986), Gennaro Parrilli (1993), Donato Pica (1991), Carlo Sanges (1997), Gianmaria Siani (1995), Gabriele Vassallo (1993), and the return of goalkeeper Aniello Milione (2001) wearing the yellow and red colors.
The giallorossi will play their first league match tomorrow, November 9, away against Muri Antichi in Catania. On Saturday, November 16, at 17:00, the first of the 3 Salerno derbies between Check-Up RN Salerno and the newly promoted team in A2, Circolo Nautico Salerno, will take place.
