Allievi M - nice test for the Training Academy Olympic Roma
Great water polo weekend for the Allievi team of the Training Academy Olympic Roma, who were engaged in a beautiful tournament on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November. The event - perfectly organized by Pallanuoto per Tutti, represented by Oreste Di Pasqua and Christian André - took place at the Santa Maria Capua Vetere swimming pool. Many positive signs for the young Olympic players, who finished 9th out of 12 participating teams and spent a fun and highly productive two days together.
The event involved some of the top teams from Central and Southern Italy, from R.N. Salerno - the tournament winner - to C.C. Napoli, C.N. Posillipo, and Nuoto Catania, and even the Roman teams Onda Forte and Vis Nova. It is obvious that the level of the event was very high: a great way to prepare for the start of the category championship, scheduled for Sunday, 24 November.
Words from coach Marco Varriale: "In a challenging group with C.C. Napoli and Vis Nova, we were not able to score points, despite playing two balanced and high-level games. Therefore, we slid to play for the 9th-12th place and performed well, winning three out of three games. Despite some issues that prevent us from playing on par with more structured teams, the team is still developing and - despite the first two defeats - never left the tournament mentally."
Coach Varriale again: "The positive aspect is that we lost 6-4 against Vis Nova (who finished 2nd) and 7-3 - with many mistakes - against Canottieri Napoli (finished 5th). This gives us courage to face future challenges better. On the other hand, I realize that many players are still not ready to give their 100%. Therefore, we have a lot of room for growth and a lot of work to do. Thanks to the valuable Jacopo Di Santo, who accompanied and supported me and the boys during these two days of the tournament. Now, focus on the championship!"
