Cardinal drops game against UCLA
Stanford splits season series against Bruins
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2 Cardinal fell 13-6 to No. 1 UCLA this afternoon, moving to 16-3 (3-2) on the season. The loss is Stanford’s first at home this season, and caps a weekend that included a win against No. 2 USC yesterday.UCLA took an early lead, up 3-2 after the first quarter. The two sides were even in the second to head into the second half at 6-5 UCLA. Five different players scored for the Cardinal, balancing a first half attack that didn’t see anyone score multiple goals for the Card. Both sides locked down defensively in the third, holding each other scoreless until the final minute when UCLA scored twice to go up 8-5.
The Bruins added to the lead with a 5-1 advantage in the fourth.
The Cardinal is at home again next weekend, hosting Santa Clara on Saturday and UC San Diego on Sunday at Avery Aquatic Center. Both games start at 12:00 p.m. PT.
