Men of ZV De Zaan and GZC Donk undefeated in Challenger Cup

Both the men of ZV De Zaan and GZC Donk have become group winners in the Challenger Cup with three victories. Due to their good performances, they have qualified for the quarter-finals which will take place on January 18 and 25. The draw will be held on Monday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m.

Building and developing together
The team from Gouda won in Sliema, Malta, in Group A against Vitória Sport Clube (15-12), Welsh Wanderers (11-26), and Espoo (8-17). After the first two victories, coach Yuri Szeles' team still had the opportunity to finish third, making a good result this morning against Espoo crucial. Player Kjeld Veenhuis scored ten goals in the three matches and looks back satisfied on the trip to Malta.

"It is very beneficial to spend a few intense days together. We have a familiar team but with a new coach. By playing three matches here in Malta, it has given us the opportunity to set new standards. Today, it became more visible and we played the match well from a more controlled defense. We look forward to the draw."

Always keep going as a team
ZV De Zaan played their matches in Novaky, Slovakia. They won against Hapoel Palram Zvulum (8-7) on Friday, and on Saturday, they won by one goal again, beating EVK Zaibas from Lithuania with a score of 12-13. The team of Andreas Miralis won comfortably this morning against the Cypriot Apoel Nicosia with a 21-2 victory. According to Jurriaan van der Struijk, the team is very happy with the way they finished the matches.

"The first two matches were much more exciting than this morning, although all results show that it was a team effort. We were very focused on defense and executed our attacks well. We, especially in the first two matches, defensively stuck to the agreements, which led us to victory. The opening match remained close as we missed the chances. Still, we managed to take the win, indicating that we are a team that never gives up. Against the last opponent, it was evident that we were much fitter, allowing us to play many counter-attacks against them. Overall, we are very happy with the excellent result!"
