División de Honor Masculina | Preview of Matchday 5
Matchday 5 of the División de Honor Masculina will take place this upcoming weekend. With an early match on Friday (KEIO CN Sabadell-CN Sant Andreu at 14:30) and five games on Saturday: CN Caballa Ciudad de Ceuta-EPlus CN Catalunya (11:30), Zodiac CN At. Barceloneta-CE Mediterrani (12:45), Geodesic Real Canoe NC-Santa Cruz Tenerife Echeyde (16:30), CN Terrassa-SolarTradex CN Mataró (18:00), and CN Barcelona-CN Rubí (18:30).
Starting with the opening match, KEIO Sabadell, who played in the Champions League in Montenegro on Wednesday, will host CN Sant Andreu at Can Llong (Friday, 14:30). Juan Carlos Sanchón's team secured their first victory of the season in Madrid against Geodesic Canoe NC, while Quim Colet's team won a battle against Primorac, emerging victorious in penalties 14-16.
In Ceuta, CN Caballa will face EPlus CN Catalunya (11:30) aiming to secure their second victory of the season. The team from the autonomous city will play against a Barcelona team that has three points out of 12 and faces a long journey in search of three points.
At Sant Sebastià (12:45), Zodiac CN At. Barceloneta, coming off a win against Marseille in the Champions League, will play against CE Mediterrani in the Barcelona derby of the round. Jahzeel Martínez's team, seventh with six points, defeated CN Caballa Ciudad de Ceuta 13-9.
In the Área Olímpica (18:00), CN Terrassa and SolarTradex CN Mataró will play what is expected to be one of the most evenly matched games of this fifth round. CN Terrassa won 9 out of 12, while Mataró, managed by Víctor González, won 6 out of 9. In the previous round, Dídac Cobacho's team defeated Rubí 9-12, while Mataró had their match against KEIO Sabadell postponed.
Just a day and a half after playing in the Eurocup, CN Barcelona will host CN Rubí at Nova Escullera (18:30). The Spanish water polo pioneer has 10 out of 12 possible points and aims to stay at the top with their sights set on Barceloneta. On the other hand, CN Rubí has been a tough opponent in this league so far.
Lastly, Geodesic Real Canoe and Santa Cruz Tenerife Echeyde will feature in another exciting match of the day (16:30). Real Canoe has three points, while Echeyde has eight. The islanders suffered a defeat at home last week against the then-leader.
