Bilal Gbadamassi wins and inspires
International Bilal Gbadamassi won yesterday the third Champions League match against Waspo'98 with 10-8. In Belgrade, Gbadamassi and his team Novi Beograd took a 5-2 lead in the first period, but then struggled to extend their advantage in the second and third periods against the Germans. The team from Hannover almost fought back into the game, but Gbadamassi's team managed to maintain the lead, securing their third consecutive European victory. Period scores: 5-2, 5-4, 6-4, 10-8. Gbadamassi commented on the match.
"We started well, but it was a sloppy game from us. We allowed them to come back every time after building a lead. It was still tense until the end, but ultimately we came out on top. On to the next matches!"
Zoran Stanisic is in Serbia with youth players from ZV De Zaan for a Power Swim water polo camp and attended the match.
"It was very interesting to watch the match! Besides the intensive training sessions and matches against peers, attending a top match is a regular part of the camp. It was a great opportunity to see Bilal play. After the match, we spoke to him, a moment we didn't want to miss. The two-hour bus trip to Belgrade was definitely worth it. Our boys then played a match in the same pool. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and very valuable for the group's development."
With this win, Gbadamassi leads the Champions League group with 9 points. The fourth Champions League group match is on November 13, Novi Beograd will visit Steaua Bucharest.
