Victories of ZG clubs in two leagues
For Zagreb clubs, this Friday was successful in the regional leagues. Mladost celebrated in the Premier League in Šibenik, while Medveščak triumphed a little further south, in Split against POŠK 1937 in the A1 league, group A.
However, those are the only two similarities from these two matches.
Dominant Frogs
In the 5th round of the Premier League, Mladost convincingly and deservedly triumphed in Šibenik against the home team Solaris. The team from Zagreb led 4-0 after five and a half minutes with goals from Vukičević, Harkov, Bukić, and Lazić. The hosts scored their first goal literally a second before the end of the first quarter (Vlahović on the counterattack).
The guests from Zagreb only led by 'only' two goals difference for a short moment (6-4, towards the end of the second quarter). In the first half of the match, the Frogs managed to keep the team from Šibenik 3-4 goals behind. In the second half of the game, Mladost increased the pace, Solaris obviously declined, leading the young team to 10-5, then 12-6 in the third, and 15-7 in the last quarter.
Mladost scored a large number of goals from the left side, while neutralizing the Šibenik attack with zone defense.
Bears secure victory in the final minutes
In the A1 league, group A, Medveščak managed to defeat POŠK 1937 in Split in the final minutes. The team from Split played excellently, probably giving their best performance in the first three quarters. The home team practically led throughout the match against the leading team in group A, an undefeated team. Only twice briefly, in the middle of the game, did Medveščak have a one-goal advantage. However, after the third quarter, POŠK 1937 was up by 2 goals, with a score of 11-9.
In the final quarter, the guests went all out and it paid off. The Zagreb team turned the tide of the game completely, winning that quarter 5-1, leading to a final score of 14-12. Nikola Šimunović from Medveščak was the top scorer of the match with 5 goals.
