No. 13 Harvard University Doused by No. 14 California Baptist University, 14-11, to Begin 2024 Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 13-ranked Harvard University to No. 14 California Baptist University, 14-11, at Santa Clara University’s Sullivan Aquatic Center in the opening game of the 2024 Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament.
In the first game of its West Coast trip, the Crimson led 5-2 in the second quarter but was unable to hold the lead as the Lancers rallied back to take the victory.
The Crimson scored five of the first seven goals of the game, with Jack Burghardt, Lukas Peabody, Owen Hale, Dean Strauser and Jacob Tsotadze each scoring to give Harvard a three-goal lead early in the second quarter.
After falling behind 6-5 to the Lancers, James Rozolis-Hill and Strauser added goals to even the score late in the third quarter, but the Lancers eventually pulled away and maintained a three-goal lead in the fourth quarter.
Hale and Rozolis-Hill each netted two goals, while Strauser had two goals and an assist.
Tsotadze chipped in a hat-trick and Burghardt added a score.
Tanner Furtak made nine saves in the cage.
