No. 11 Long Beach State Continues Big West Play Hosting No. 14 UC San Diego on Friday Night
The Beach continues a five-game homestand.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 11 Long Beach State hosts No. 14 UC San Diego at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center this Friday as Big West conference play continues.
Led by freshmen Gabi Acosta and Corbin Stanley, the Beach (13-9, 0-2 Big West) comes off a tough loss against No. 9 UC Irvine, 13-12, last week at home. Acosta, Stanley, and senior Bruno Chiappini all added two goals in the loss. Artur Diaz, Evan Cain, Riley Catino, Caleb Francisco, Marc Frigola, and Nikola Jancic all netted one goal in the match.
UC San Diego (12-9, 1-1 Big West) defeated Cal State Fullerton last week at home to collect its first Big West win of the season. The Tritons are led by sophomore Landon Akerston with 47 goals and junior Bennett Axline with 31. Senior Logan Estes leads his team and the Big West Conference on defense with 141 saves this year.
The freshman duo of Acosta and Stanley continues to show its strength as the team leaders in goals, with 40 and 41, respectively. Seniors Evan Cain and Bruno Chiappini continue to be a force for the Beach in both offense and defense. Cain has 37 goals and 22 steals, while Chiappini has netted 34 goals, tallied 25 assists, and recorded 10 steals. Sophomore Marc Frigola, with 31 assists, ranks second among the Big West Conference leaders. Frigola also added 33 goals in his second season with the Beach.
