Cesport Italia Celebrates 30 Years of Activity
Small, but with the dream of growing by learning from the best, Cesport Italia has now turned 30, an important milestone achieved with commitment, passion, and a lot of sacrifice.
The Sports Association Water Polo Cesport Italia was established in 1994, initially focusing on amateur activities, working with people with disabilities and those less fortunate, and swimming for school projects; later, the Swimming and Water Polo sectors at the competitive level took shape, with the goal of growing as a sports organization, starting from the Collana Stadium where Cesport was born, which closed in 2017.
Over the years, the Neapolitan club has achieved many results, and many more are hoped for: in 2007, the Cesport achieved its first promotion to Series C and made its league debut the following season. In these years, the club has grown to compete in the national under-17 finals for two consecutive years, eventually earning the Water Polo Best Performance award as an emerging club in 2009. Thanks to increasing efforts, Cesport won the Series C championship in 2013, and in its debut Series B season, the team confirmed its status by finishing in the middle of the standings. The following season marked the race to A2 Series, which was achieved in 2017 after just four years in Series B. Defending the Series A status, reached through enormous sacrifices, Cesport's top players have allowed the family-managed club to compete in four seasons at this level.
In 2020, amid the challenges posed by the Covid-19 emergency, Cesport seized the opportunity to focus on its youth academy, launching a new cycle from Series B with all players developed within its water polo structure symbolized by Cesport's cap. The results exceeded all expectations, with the new Cesport team almost securing promotion to A2 in its first year, fielding ten debutants out of thirteen players. After an unfortunate season that still provided valuable experience to the players, the Neapolitans quickly reclaimed the Series B title, which is the category Cesport currently competes in.
None of this would have been possible without a tremendous effort from a dedicated team led by the Esposito family, along with the President and a group of collaborators and executives who dedicate their time daily to their passion for water polo, particularly for Cesport. The challenges faced are the same as those of any small or large organization, considering that Cesport has been operating without a reference structure for almost eight years. However, the results obtained demonstrate that with commitment and sacrifice, anything is possible.
There is always much work to be done, but the qualities and affection of those who hold Cesport dear instill hope for the future. President Esposito and all the executives devote their time and passion selflessly, not only financially but also by sacrificing family time.
We extend our gratitude for the support of partner friends who have always been linked to the Cesport family, such as Klimatica Srl, Michele in the World, Pharmacia Cannone, Minias, Synclab, Studio Legale Piezzi, Ortocenter, Progetti Lab, and Percuoco Insurance. In the meantime, we enjoy our players and aim for continuous growth.
