Iris Wolves bids farewell to the Dutch water polo team
After a seven-year international career, water polo player Iris Wolves has announced her departure from the Dutch water polo team. With over 100 international matches under her belt and a rich list of achievements, the Polar Bears player can look back on a magnificent Orange career.
Wolves made her debut in 2017 at the highest international level and quickly became a key player within the team due to her game insight and versatility in the water. Her contribution to the Dutch team was essential in multiple tournaments. She represented TeamNL in the victorious European Championships of 2018 and 2024, and the 2023 World Championship where gold was achieved. She also played a key role in the Dutch selection for the 2019 World Championship (seventh) and the Olympic Games in 2021 (sixth) and 2024 (bronze).
With her leadership, character, and experience, Wolves has been a source of inspiration for both her teammates and water polo talents during her time with the Dutch team. Wolves will remain active at Polar Bears, where she will compete in the Champions League this weekend. We wish Iris much success in her future challenges, both in and out of the water. Technical director Arno Havenga on the retired international.
"Iris has brought a lot to the women's water polo team with her personality and qualities. We have enjoyed the years that Iris represented the Dutch team. I wish her all the best at Polar Bears and in her professional career."
Soon we will look back on Wolves' international career.
