The United States Military Academy’s Wesley Baca Garners October 21 Men’s Collegiate Club New York Division Player of the Week Recognition
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Wesley Baca (Sr., Englewood, Fla./Pine View School) scored four goals and factored in all three goals as the United States Military Academy overcame a three-score deficit with under 90 seconds left in the fourth quarter versus Cornell University as Army won the 2024 Men’s Collegiate Club New York Division Championship title at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. For his heroic effort, Baca is lauded as the October 21 New York Division Player of the Week.
Trailing 15-12 with 1:41 left on the clock, Army marched to victory as Baca buried shots with 1:26 and 41 seconds remaining prior to snagging a steal to set-up the equalizer by Max Orlowski (Sr., Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) with two ticks on the clock to square his squad with the Big Red at 15-all.
In overtime, Orlowski converted on shots at 2:46, 2:06, 1:41 and 1:08 in the first frame for the difference as Army rolled onto the 2024 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship on November 8-10 at the University of Florida courtesy a 19-15 OT win versus Cornell.
The victory marked the third of the weekend for Army which previously defeated host RPI (17-5 W) and the United States Coast Guard Academy (17-6 W) in the tournament Back chipping in one and three goals, respectively.
