Javi Aznar: "We controlled their transitions well; we needed a game like this"
Second national title in the history of CN Sant Andreu women's team. In a span of a few months, the team led by Javi Aznar linked the Queen's Cup and the Iberdrola Super Cup. This Sunday, the Barcelona team won 5-10 at Joan Serra de MatarĂ³. In the mixed zone, we spoke with the Madrid coach and with Ariadna Ruiz.
"Above the title, which is very important for the club, we needed a game like this because we came from a League match against Sabadell where some doubts arose. We needed a complete game, good play. We controlled the match well, their transitions. Happy for the title, but above all for the game," analyzed Aznar.
"In both the final of the Catalan Cup and today we played well. It's something we are looking for, we are not in our best moment because we come from a summer of many international successes and it's hard for the players to get into the role and be in shape. We are still arriving," added Aznar, who analyzed that "I think it has been key to control the transitions. We were very good in defense, what we wanted was to have a lot of control."
On her side, Ari Ruiz commented that "it's a game we worked on all week because we knew that if we didn't do what we were supposed to, it would cost us. We have known how to control it at all times and things have worked out."
"I feel good, in the end it's not just the goals, but all aspects of defense, everything, in that regard I'm happy but you can always help the team more. The new players have fit in great, apart from being good players, they are very good people and that helps the team grow," added Ruiz.
