Panathinaikos "conquers" Nea Smyrni with an emphatic victory, 15-6 against Panionios
With another impressive performance, this time at the Nea Smyrni swimming pool, Panathinaikos secured its second victory in the men's A1 water polo championship. Dimitris Mazis' team defeated Panionios 15-6 in the 2nd round of Group A, starting the season with a perfect record of 2 wins out of 2 matches.
Relying on a strong defense, a great offensive display by Papasifakis (scoring a total of 6 goals), and a powerful second quarter (scoring 6 unanswered goals), Panathinaikos took control, left little room for their opponents to react, and rightfully claimed the victory.
According to the match report: At 1:43 before the end of the third quarter, with the score at 5-11, Giannis Papakos was shown a red card and was unable to be replaced, leaving Panathinaikos to take a penalty shot and play with one player more for four minutes.
