SUPERCOPA IBERDROLA | Assolim CN Mataró-CN Sant Andreu, going for the first title (11:30, TDP)
A blockbuster match is on the cards this Sunday by the sea at the Joan Serra pool in Mataró. The team led by Dani Ballart, the reigning league champion, faces off against CN Sant Andreu, winners of the last Iberdrola Queen's Cup, in search of the first national title of the season, the Iberdrola Supercup. The match will kick off at 11:30 and can be watched live on Teledeporte and RTVE Play.
On one side, Assolim CN Mataró comes with a different squad from last season. They have lost Laura Aarts, Rita Keszthelyi, Simone Van de Kraats. Weighty departures and a commitment to homegrown talent in Dani Ballart's team, which started the Iberdrola League with a victory in Madrid against Simalga Real Canoe NC.
Meanwhile, CN Sant Andreu maintains the squad that dazzled last season and adds even more quality with the arrival of international player Paula Camús upfront. Javi Aznar's team is very young and full of talent and will seek to compete for everything this season. Let’s not forget, runners-up in the Iberdrola League, winners of the Iberdrola Queen's Cup, and third in Europe. Quite a résumé.
Interestingly, the last time both teams met was in the finals of the Honor Division last season. Double victory for the Maresme team, 8-10 away at Pere Serrat and 10-4 at home. It's worth noting that if Javi Aznar's team wins, it would be their first Supercup in history, and if Ballart's team comes out on top, it would be their fourth.
