WATER POLO / WOMEN'S A1
Big Comeback in Ilioupoli and Local GS Ties with AEK 11-11
As it evolved, it was the derby of the 2nd round in the Women's A1 National Water Polo Championship. GS Ilioupoli and AEK shared a point (11-11) in a very interesting and dramatic game.
In Ilioupoli, the newly promoted home team held the reins of the match for most of the time. They led 7-5 and 8-6 in the third period, but also 10-7 and 11-8 just 3:57 before the end. However, AEK found a way and the mental reserves to first score two goals within 00:42 and reduce the lead to 11-10, and then equalize with Xenia Petta with 00:41 left (with one player extra).
It is the first match of the championship to end in a draw, in a round where the visitors won the remaining five games.
