A1 M - TeLiMar on the road to face AN Brescia lions
After the convincing home debut against Onda Forte Roma, TeLiMar Palermo travels to Brescia to face the Lions in the second day of the A1 championship. The match kicks off tomorrow at 5:00 PM, Saturday 19th October at Piscina di Mompiano. The game will be officiated by referees Fabio Brasiliano and Alessia Ferrari from Liguria. The match will be live-streamed on the home team's Youtube channel.
Coach Bovo's men, who conquered Piscina di Albaro with a 13-4 win over Quinto, come into this match after a victory on Thursday against Apollon in the Euro Cup. In contrast, the team led by Gu Baldineti approaches the game focusing all physical and mental energies solely on the championship.
Last Saturday saw an excellent performance in the pool in Terrasini for Francesco Pettonati, who scored two goals: "I didn't expect to start so well." The 2006-born player remains grounded, analyzing the match against Onda Forte, which ended with a victory but also displayed a moment of lack of lucidity, allowing the Romans to make a comeback: "At the beginning of the season, it is normal to have moments of decline. We are a new group, mostly made up of very young players, all with great room for improvement. We still have to find the right balance, we are working very hard, but we still have alternating moments, as it was noticed."
"We are already a great group. We are carefree," continues the Palermo native, "and this, for me, can be our strength. To avoid blackout moments like last Saturday, I believe that the appropriate solution is to train, always trying to give our best to achieve the set goals and thus create an even more cohesive group. In the upcoming matches," emphasizes the defender who narrowly missed bronze with the U18 National Team at the World Championships in Buenos Aires, "we face a real tour de force against the best teams in the championship. We will use this period to improve our game, based on defense and counterattack, playing every match to win 3 points and build a winning mentality."
Tomorrow's opponent will be Brescia with former players Max Irving and Mario Del Basso, who spent two and four years at the blue-green club, respectively: "It will certainly be a tough game," says Pettonati. "We will face one of the best teams in our championship, with internationally recognized players accustomed to important stages. We will go to Brescia to play openly, trying to express and improve our game. We will go there to win, although it is still a very challenging match."
Marcello Giliberti, President of TeLiMar: "I renew my compliments to my boys for the convincing and well-deserved home victory last Saturday against Roma. They were also good in maintaining respectful behaviors that the referees rightfully appreciate, showing that they are a good, well-trained team, playing well and behaving properly. We head to Brescia knowing that we are facing a more structured opponent than us, with whom we have an obligation to give our best, trying to apply all the directives that our good coach imparts during every training session. We must avoid individualisms that do not help the team, coming out of the water in the end with a clear conscience, knowing that we have done our best possible."
