Šabac submerged in Barcelona after a comeback, Rašović secures victory for Panathinaikos
Water polo team from Šabac was defeated in Spain by Barcelona with a score of 14:9, in the second round of the European Cup group stage.
The team from Šabac has reasons to be disappointed, as they were constantly in the lead during the first three quarters and held an 8:6 advantage with nine minutes left. However, Barcelona scored eight goals by the end, conceded only one, and ended up winning convincingly.
Luka Pljevančić stood out with three goals, while Ognjen Stojanović scored twice. Xavier García was the top scorer for the home team with four goals.
In the same group, Panathinaikos secured their first points by defeating Honved in Hungary 12:11, with three goals from Viktor Rašović, the Serbian national team player who scored the winning goal half a minute before the end.
Strasbourg submerged Jug 16:13 in Group A, while Brescia was better than Apolon on their away match, with a total of five goals scored by Nikola Bogdanović and Marko Radović.
In the group C derby, Pro Reko defeated Mladost in Zagreb 16:13, while Szolnok convincingly won 18:9 against Duisburg on their away match.
In the clash of two Greek teams in Group B, Panionios defeated Vouliagmeni 10:9, while the Hungarian BVSC easily and convincingly won against Ortigia (17:11).
The competition will continue in two weeks when Panathinaikos will host Šabac.
