Noa de Vries to Hungarian top club Ferencvaros (FTC)
Noa de Vries will play next season for Ferencvaros in Budapest, Hungary's number 2. The 20-year-old top scorer of Z&PC Het Ravijn has signed a one-year contract with an option to extend for several years. At FTC, De Vries will deal with coach Mark Matajsz, whom she knows from the period when she played for the Hungarian club Szentes.
De Vries has already undergone a nice development in recent years. As a driving force at ZPC Het Ravijn, she and her team reached the semi-finals of the Play-Offs this season. A great achievement for this very young team. Last year she won bronze with the national team at the WJK under 20 years. After having gone through all the national youth selections, De Vries is now part of the A selection led by national coach Evangelos Doudesis.
“Last month FTC registered and you don't say no,” says the strong center forward. “FTC is a fantastic club and I get the opportunity to train and play with experienced top players from the Hungarian national team. That fits exactly with my ambition.” De Vries expects to be able to make great steps in her development by playing in the strong Hungarian competition and is really looking forward to her new adventure. Next year FTC will also play in the Champions League. “Playing in the Champions League, that is the dream of every top athlete!” said De Vries.
Coach Wicher Diallo is extremely happy for De Vries that she can take this next step in her career at such a big club. “Noa has brought a lot to Het Ravijn, both in the water and beyond. She has already shown real leadership qualities at a young age,” said Diallo. He expresses his pride in De Vries' development and her achievements that have led to this great opportunity in the Hungarian competition. “This opportunity comes at a perfect time for her and as a club we can be extremely proud of it. I look forward to seeing Noa also shine in the Champions League,” Diallo adds enthusiastically.
Hilda Wouters, chairman of the TSC, expresses her pride that a club like Het Ravijn has trained a player who is now can make this wonderful step. "We see it as a great development in her top sports career. Although we as an association regret that we will have to miss Noa next season, we naturally wish her this opportunity. We would like to wish Noa good luck in Hungary," said Wouters.
