WJK: 9th place for orange boys U16
The Dutch water polo boys of the Year 2008 and younger finished 9th (out of 32) at the World Youth Championship (WJK) under 16 years. The team of youth national coach Zeno Reuten gradually started to play better during the tournament and concluded the tournament in Malta with a nice 12-8 win over Australia in the battle for the 9th and 10th place. > place.
In the group stage, the Dutch Juniors narrowly lost the crucial match against the United States 6-7. This gave the Netherlands a tough opponent in the 'crossover' with Serbia for a place in the quarter-finals. The Serbs blocked the Netherlands' way to the top 8. The team then showed character with victories over Bulgaria, Germany and Australia.
The gold went to Spain, which won 18-6 against Italy in the final. Hungary took the bronze after a 12-10 win over Montenegro.

In addition to national coach Zeno Reuten, the guidance consisted of assistant coaches Arjen Silvis and Erik Brugué and physiotherapist Joshua van der Wilt.
