Four University of Michigan Women’s Water Polo Athletes Named 2023-24 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Libby Alsemgeest (Sr., Hamilton, New Zealand/St. Cuthbert’s College), Alison Lock (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Skyline), Kasey Umlauf (Sr., Northfield, Ill./New Trier Township) and Kata Utassy (Sr., Budapest, Hungary/Konyves Kalman Secondary School) of the University of Michigan Women’s Water Polo team are among a record 139 Wolverines student-athletes to earn distinction for the work in the classroom as 2023-24 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.
The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honor goes to student-athletes who recorded a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year. Michigan’s 139 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars mark the seventh straight year with at least 70 honorees and second straight year with at least 130.
