A1 M – new coach for Trieste, Maurizio Mirarchi arrives

"WE WILL PLAY AGGRESSIVE AND DYNAMIC WATER POLO"

Trieste Water Polo has a new coach. The sponsored company Samer & Co. Shipping has in fact identified the coach who will sit on the bench of the men's A1 series team. This is Maurizio Mirarchi, born in 1961, a profound connoisseur of Italian and international water polo. In her career she has led, among others, Lazio Nuoto, Bogliasco, Acquachiara (reaching a fourth place in 2011 and two consecutive qualifications for the Italian Cup Final-Four) and Messina in the women's A1. In the 2023/2024 season he led Astra Nuoto Roma to an authentic sporting "miracle", reaching salvation (without even going through the play-outs) with by far the youngest team in the category. Since 2023 he has been coordinator of the technical area of the federal women's youth sector and technical manager of the women's Under 19 national team, which will take part in the European Championship in Zagreb this summer. Mirarchi has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third.

“When the possibility of coming to Water Polo Trieste arose – says the new halberd coach – I accepted without hesitation. I have faced this team many times as an opponent and they have always impressed me. The company is undoubtedly one of the best on the scene, attentive to detail, in just a few years it has carved out an important space for itself, even coming close to a championship final. A long-term project awaits us, the objective will be to get as high as possible while at the same time trying to enhance the athletes of the academy, authentic added value for any club that looks into the future. I will bring my mentality, I prefer aggressive, dynamic water polo, made up of high rhythms and speed in transitions".

“We start again with a coach of enormous experience – explains general director Andrea Brazzatti – who manages to make the athletes he has available perform at their best and who knows how to cultivate the talent of the youngest. We are very happy to have him with us, there is a lot of work to do, we will tackle it with great enthusiasm".
