Dodd, Tierney Sweep MPSF Weekly Awards
LOS ANGELES -- UCLA freshman attacker Ryder Dodd (Long Beach, Calif./JSerra Catholic HS) has been named the MPSF West/Delfina Player of the Week and graduate student Nico Tierney (Sierra Madre, Calif./Pepperdine) has been named the MPSF West/S&R Sport Newcomer of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Dodd scored a career-best eight goals in an 18-12 win at No. 7 Pepperdine (Oct. 12) and then added two more scores in a 10-8 home win over No. 11 Princeton (Oct. 13). He turned in two all-around performances to go with his 10 goals, adding four of five winning sprints, four steals (all at Pepperdine), four drawn exclusions, two assists, and one field block.
This is the second career MPSF weekly award for Dodd, and first as a player of the week.
Others Nominated: Riley Pittman (Stanford).
Tierney scored four goals on five shots and added one steal against his former team, helping the Bruins to an 18-12 win at No, 7 Pepperdine (Oct. 12). He then scored one goal on two shots in the 10-8 home win over No. 11 Princeton (Oct. 13).
This is the first career MPSF award for Tierney.
