The Women's Water Polo Team, 2024 International Sports Journalism Award

The RFEN Aquatics Women's Water Polo Team continues to reap the rewards of their summer harvest in Paris, where they captured the Olympic gold. This time they have been awarded the 2024 International Sports Journalism Award in the Sports category organized by The International Press Club and the Foreign Press Correspondents Association. A award that Olympic champions Laura Ester and Paula Camus came expressly from Barcelona to receive, on behalf of all the players. Congratulations, TEAM!

Rodrigo Gil-Sabio (RFEN Aquatics Communication)

Presiding over the Gala was the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, who praised the award to our team as "a success that marks Spain, the gold of the Spanish women's water polo team in the last Olympic Games, which also shows that sports, and women's sports in particular, have reached extraordinary levels in recent years." At this event, held at the Cecilio Rodríguez Pavilion in El Retiro park in Madrid, the president of the Managing Committee of the RFEN Aquatics, Fernando Carpena, was present along with the athletes in the second image in the gallery below.

Also awarded at the Gala were the Mapfre Foundation, Juan Luis Cebrian, Felipe Sahagún, Mónica Uriel, José Luis López-Linares, Ofelia de Pablo and Javier Zurita, Joan Manuel Serrat, The Objective, Paradores de Turismo de España, RTVE Institute, and Palestinian Journalists.
