Wim Nienhuis is the new chairman of the Premier League Committee
In early October, the Eredivisie Consultation took place, during which Wim Nienhuis chaired the meeting for the first time as the new chairman. He took over the chairmanship from Saskia Moolhuijzen, who held the role for three years. Her farewell took place during the farewell tournament of the women's water polo team in Rotterdam.
Eredivisie Workgroup
Wim Nienhuis has been involved with ZPB H&L Productions in Barendrecht for nine years, where he currently serves as chairman. With four years of managerial experience and an active role in various task groups and committees, he joined the workgroup aimed at improving the Eredivisie last year. His active involvement made him a suitable candidate for the chairmanship, an idea supported by both Ilse Sindorf and Moolhuijzen.
"The easiest thing is to sit on the sidelines and shout out what could be different. I am glad I joined the workgroup, and I am honored to contribute to the professionalization of the Eredivisie as the chairman of the consultation,"
Every team active in the Eredivisie is represented by a club member in the workgroup. The members meet every three months, and according to Nienhuis, an effective meeting process has been established thanks to Moolhuijzen.
"As a collective, we have made great strides. I have a lot of respect for Saskia's leadership. She brought her entrepreneurial spirit into her role as chairman, setting and working on ambitions. We have made great progress in our joint goal to achieve the best for the Eredivisie."
Importance of Collaboration
In parallel with the workgroup, a plan was developed to align the Eredivisie's ambitions with the vision of Top Team Sports, leading to a policy document focusing on a professional and strong Eredivisie. Moolhuijzen stresses the importance of focusing on the Eredivisie.
"A part of the Eredivisie interests previously lay with the Water Polo Federation Netherlands (WFN), but it was important for them to be transferred to the KNZB. In the past year and a half, the emphasis has been primarily on professionalizing top sports in the long run, and this is becoming increasingly visible," explains Moolhuijzen, who sees that the workgroup members are aligned.
The Eredivisie's structure has been further developed with targeted plans to further professionalize the league. Moolhuijzen looks back with satisfaction on the achievements of the workgroup and is convinced that many more positive steps will follow.
"It is very valuable to work together as an Eredivisie collective. It has given us the opportunity to focus on creating the right conditions for growing into a top league. I am grateful that together we have laid a solid foundation. With all the current developments and with Wim as chairman, I am confident that there will be many more positive steps ahead."
