Novi Beograd convincingly defeats Oradea in the Champions League
Water polo team Novi Beograd continued their winning streak in the new season by securing another victory in the second round of the Champions League. After defeating Steaua in Belgrade, Živko Gocić's team also triumphed over another Romanian representative, Oradea, with a score of 15:9.
The Romanians put up a fight until the middle of the second quarter, but Novi Beograd then "pulled away" to 7:4 in the final seconds of the first half, extending their lead even further in the third period to 10:4, essentially eliminating any doubts about the outcome.
Vasilije Martinović was the top scorer for the winning team with four goals, followed by Đorđe Vučinić with three goals. On the other side, former player of Radnički, Crvena Zvezda, and Vojvodina, Ivan Gusarov, also scored three goals, while Petar Velkić scored one for Oradea.
In the other match of Group A, Steaua defeated Hanover after penalty shootouts with a score of 13:12. As a result, Novi Beograd has six points, Oradea has three, Steaua has two, and Hanover has one point.
The competition resumes on October 29 when Novi Beograd hosts Hanover.
