University of Vermont’s Charlie Hiller Earns September 30 Men’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Charlie Hiller (Sr., Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) of the University of Vermont accounted for five goals, seven assists and a pair of field blocks in wins over Tufts University and Bowdoin College during a 4-0 weekend at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, to earn the September 30 Men’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division Player of the Week award.
UVM’s club president, captain and coach, Hiller helped power the Catamounts to a 20-8 defeat of Bowdoin and a 16-4 dispatching of Tufts. The Tufts victory marked a 12-point improvement over Vermont’s 10-9 victory over the Jumbos on September 21 during another 4-0 weekend at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt.
In addition to the wins over Bowdoin and Tufts, Vermont collected forfeit defeats of Middlebury and Bates College to conclude the regular season with an 8-0 record in the North Atlantic Division.
The first place finish clinched a spot in the combined Colonial/North Atlantic “A” Divisions Championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 19-20, at Bowdoin in Brunswick, Maine, with the No. 2 (Tufts) and No. 3 (Bowdoin) finishers in the North Atlantic Division along with the No. 1 (University of Connecticut), No. 2 (University of Massachusetts) and No. 3 (Amherst College) teams from the Colonial Division.
