Champions: Sant Andreu, Terrassa, Catalunya and Echeyde, going for the second round
Important week for national women's water polo. CN Sant Andreu, Tenerife Echeyde, CN Terrassa and Eplus CN Catalunya are competing in the first phase of the LEN Champions League. Astralpool CN Sabadell and Assolim CN MatarĂ³ (along with Orizzonte Catania and Greek Olympiacos) have wild cards for the second round. From Thursday 3rd October to Sunday 6th, they will be looking for their ticket in four frenetic days. . The top two in each group go through to the next round.
Starting with the current Cup champion and third in the last edition of the Champions League, CN Sant Andreu, has been placed in the Group A with Hungarian Ferencvaros, Greek Panionios, Italian Rapallo and Dutch ZV Zaan. The favourites are Javi Aznar's team, runners-up in the League and who will play the Iberdrola Spanish Super Cup against MatarĂ³ on 20 October.The phase will be played in Athens (Greece)
CN Terrassa, for its part, will be in Group D together with Digi Eger from Hungary, SIS Roma from Italy, Trieste from Italy and Keruleti TVE from Hungary.The renewed team from Eger has a difficult time in Eger (Hungary).
For its part, Tenerife Echeyde, also with many new faces, travels to Padova (Italy) to face the host Plebiscito , Greek Ethnikos and Alimos and Hapoel Yoneam from Israel.
Finally, Eplus CN Catalunya will face Greek Glyfada and Vouliagmeni, German Spandau and Wideix Donk in Berlin (Germany). Dutch.
