"Three out of three" and historic European qualification for Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos celebrated its qualification to the groups of the Men's Water Polo Euro Cup, after easily winning 13-9 against Pei D' Ex Natacion, on Saturday afternoon (28/9), in the context of the 6th qualifying group , hosted by the French team in Eze-en-Provence.
The team of Dimitris Mazis, who now has three wins in as many games, will claim the first place in the group on Sunday (29/9) at 10:30, against title holder Jug Dubrovnik.
With Nikos Papanikolaou as the leader, Panathinaikos led 4-1 just before the end of the first period. The French were able to cut it to 5-4, however, the "greens" with a weapon in their defense escaped with a 9-4 run in the final minutes of the third quarter and, in essence, secured the victory. In the fourth period, Nikos Papasifakis was sent off as a substitute, and he will miss the game against Youg.
