University of Connecticut’s Alessandro Portolano Takes September 23 Men’s Collegiate Club Colonial Division Player of the Week Honor
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Alessandro Portolano (Sr., Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) of the University of Connecticut compiled 23 goals, eight assists, seven steals and a pair of field blocks during a 4-0 weekend for the Huskies at the Colonial Division’s only regular season tournament on Saturday-Sunday, September 21-22, hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
Thanks to his September 23 Men’s Collegiate Club Colonial Division Player of the Week performance, Connecticut topped Worcester Polytechnic Institute (22-2 W) and Amherst College (27-10 W) on September 21 prior to downing Wesleyan University (12-3 W) and the University of Massachusetts (17-5 W) on September 22 during the division’s lone regular season tournament to secure the Colonial Division regular season crown.
By winning the regular season title, the Huskies clinch the No. 1 seed for the combined Colonial/North Atlantic Divisions “A” Championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 19-20, hosted by either Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., or Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
