Filip Kljajevic new head men's coach ZPC Het Ravijn
As a player he was active in Georgia, Turkey, France, the Netherlands and his home country Serbia. He had an impressive water polo career with several national titles but gives a modest response when you ask him about this. “Don't tell too much about me!” was Kljajevic's response when he was asked to tell his story about his arrival as head coach of ZPC Het Ravijn. Two years ago, Kljajevic was approached by last season's coach, Jan Mensink, to become a trainer/coach at ZPC Het Ravijn as soon as he left Schuurman BZC. That moment has now arrived.
Kljajevic is looking forward to working at the association in Nijverdal. “A beautiful club, with committed members and always many fanatical supporters in the stands,” he says, laughing. Kljajevic also sees it as a great opportunity in his development as a trainer/coach to work with a young and eager to learn group such as that in the men's selection of ZPC Het Ravijn.
Jan Mensink will remain involved in the men's selection as Kljajevic's assistant coach next season. “I am very pleased that I can work with a very experienced player/coach that I recruited seven years ago, during my time at Schuurman BZC. That's beautiful!” A nice duo, with a lot of experience and technical background. This coming year will be Mensink's 50th year as a trainer/coach and after this year he will say goodbye to his, as he himself indicates, his beloved club.
Hilda Wouters, chairman of the top sports committee, is very happy with the arrival of Filip Kljajevic as the new head coach for the men's selection. “Filip brings a wealth of water polo knowledge from his home country Serbia to Nijverdal. We believe this experience will take our men's team to an even higher level. Our goal is to compete for the title again next year. With Filip Klajevic at the helm, we look forward to next season with confidence.”
