CHENGDU | Spain beats the Netherlands comfortably (5-13) and ends up as leader
Our junior women's team beat the Netherlands on Wednesday (5-13) and confirmed its leadership in Group A of the World Championship in Chengdu (China). The team coached by Marian Díaz has completed the full house in this first phase and now awaits an opponent for the quarter-finals (Friday, 11:30 Spanish peninsular time).
The Dutch team did not sell their skin dearly, especially in the initial stretch. The first period was very even with a tulip team that equaled each of the blows that Spain dealt. Itziar Martínez, Carlota Peñalver and Queralt Antón, the scorers in the 3-3 of the first eight minutes.
The Dutch took the lead for the first time (4-3), but from that moment on Spain stepped on the accelerator and reached the long break 4-8 up after a devastating partial of 0-5.
After the restart, Van der Meer reduced the distance, but from that moment on there was only one team. Queralt Antón and Luna Vara made it 5-10 and in the last quarter Spain ‘killed’ the match with a final partial of 0-3. Great upward line of ours.
